Melissa Murphy

Director of Risk Management, Roosevelt Outsourced Risk Management

Melissa Murphy is the Director of Risk Management Services for Roosevelt Outsourced Risk Management. She started her insurance career in 2001 and has over two decades of experience working for two of the largest insurance brokerage firms in the U.S. (Willis Towers Watson and Brown & Brown) as an Account Executive and Vice President. Her property and casualty brokerage experience includes handling large national accounts and middle market accounts in a variety of industries including hospitality, pizza franchising, fine arts, higher education, construction, technology, manufacturing, and healthcare. Melissa further expanded her understanding of the industry by moving into in-house risk management and insurance, serving as a risk manager for Auburn University and an insurance program manager for Brasfield & Gorrie, one of the top 25 general contractors in the U.S. Her extensive skill set includes claims management for large self-insurance organizations, insurance policy and program structure analysis, risk analysis, fleet safety program development, risk management policy development, contract review, and other tasks related to the reducing the cost of an organization’s risk.

Passionate about her craft, Melissa holds multiple industry specific designations and degrees including the Associate in Risk Management (ARM), the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), a Masters of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University, and a Doctorate in Adult Education from Auburn University. In her free time, Melissa enjoys painting and supporting the Fine Arts by serving as a volunteer board member for Space One Eleven Arts Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
